Beijing Day 10

Early morning we woke up. Cora and I did an interview with the I cable. We were worried that the HK media is going into the restricted zones. Then the responsibility will be completely ours. Luckily, they were unable to enter the village anyways.

After the interview, we changed and walked around the village. Took lots of pictures, especially at the flags. The weather was so nice today and you can actually see the blue sky above.

We walked outside and found a dumpling store. Haven't had dumplings in ages. We had mutton and port. I love how we ate all 30 dumplings altogether. Then we went to the water cube and the Nest, took lots of pictures.

Gone CraZy!!!

Beijing Day 9

Another uneventful day.

We had our first McDonald's meal today at the village. It was consisted of 6 items, a chicken burger, a double cheese burger, McNuggets, French Fries and a cup of corn, some includes apple pie as well. These are some really heavy junk....

Possible press interview tomorrow. Scary.

Beijing Day 8

Unhappy mood

Lied in bed for the whole day

Watched so many soaps

Cora rescued me from my bed at night. We went out for Japanese food, and a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. Can't remember how long I haven't had Blizzard from DQ. Green tea is delicious!

Oh! I bought a wonderful visor today. Love it so much.

Well rested. I am up for challenge again.

Beijing Day 7

What a disappointing day!

She kept talking and talking in Mandarin.

I shut down, didn't notice she said pain in between sentences.

>_<

Better not mess with me now....

Beijing Day 6

After battling with the long queuing line, we finally got tickets for the handball game, after 3 big hours. We are gonna watch China vs Norway, Germany vs Brazil. It's a big day on August 9th!!

Did nothing for the afternoon, had a 4 hour nap. Had some spicy cold noodle for dinner. It was so delicious although my lips were burning.

Felt like I did nothing today. Sleep tight and do a good job tomorrow. Yeah@!!

Beijing Day 5

Finally, the clinic is serving someone who can actually speak English. A Swiss man came in today and I had a chance to chat with him. He talked about how much he loves to travel but never takes any pictures. I wonder why. Doesn't he want to remember the places that he visited? He said the eyes are his camera and the pictures are in his mind. He usually smells the atmosphere of the place and feel it. If he really wants to keep a picture of the place, he buys postcards.

Well I guess that's somebody who truly knows the way to enjoy traveling, enjoy the world. This remind me to feel when you visit a new place, feel the city, feel the atmosphere, feel the people.

Then I said, hm..... no pictures.... it works until you get Alzheimers .... hehe .. shouldn't have said that...

The working environment is not as peaceful as I thought. There are always somebody who are more aggressive than myself. It makes me very grumpy sometimes. The Putonghua language is kinda driving me nuts. It's very tiring to listen and understand a language that you are supposed to know but not indeed. Cora described me as a completely shut down system. Man.. i don't know how I am going to stand this for another month. Hopefully more foreigners come when the village is officially opened.

Mom called today. Very excited. She was gonna have her CPR exam in half an hour. But she still knew nothing about the procedure. Funny that she wasn't worried at all.

We went to a place called HauHai tonight. It was a very decent place with some bars around. Facing a lake with nightlight around, the atmosphere was fabulous. Feels so good :)

Beijing Day 4

After laundry, I am already too exhausted to write.

This is my first day off today. We went down to the forbidden city. OMG, that palace was huge. I can't imagine how those ppl in the past actually transfer messages from the entrance to the king. Also, when one of the wives wanted to visit the other, they actually need to plan and made a "trip" to another room. Despite the overwhelmingly big in area, it was a very nice place to visit.

Then we went down to Wangfujing street again. The bookstore there was a heaven for me. Bought some CDs with the cheapest price ever. Hopefully they are relaxing enough to calm myself down when I am going crazy. We spent around 3 hours in the bookstore and I personally had a great time.

After enjoying the scent of books, we went down to the snack street of Wangfujing. Love the BBQ lamb and beef!! This downtown of BJ provided great food, probably gonna visit this place again.

I am happy today. Did a great job in enjoying life!!

Beijing Day 3

Day 3 starts slowly with a McDonald's $9 breakfast. The coffee and McMuffin were just right there but my tray was still empty. They finally left me 10 minutes to finish it.

It wasn't busy at all in the morning.

The lunch was not as enjoyable as the other day. Chicken salad looked really good but it was super dry. Pork chop was double super dry. The chinese mushroom was rock hard. The only joyful compartment of the meal was the minute maid orange juice. We went shopping in the olympic village today, had a good time.

Other than the olympic village, I once again visited the supermarket with Cora. Love to shop at the supermarket. Cora and I stay in the same room for this trip and funny we found a lot of similiarities between us.

We had a conversation about Vic today on our trip to supermarket. To settle in a new city was not an easy task. People could get frustrated with the people and environment if they are completely different from home. I believe both Vic and I had gone through some difficult times around a year or 2 years ago. That reminded me how moody Vic got on some school days, and things I had gone through last year.

anyways, gonna enjoy the forbidden city tomorrow.

Beijing Day 2

We woke up early today for bakery, wanna get some fresh bread for breakfast. Unfortunately, there ain't any. Arriving early at the olympics village, we went through the security check early, had lunch early, and left early. After we took turns in operating the machines, we went back to the hostel and went out for a walk.

The subway was not hard to take although it is not as convenient as the Paris subway. I remember the subway in Paris was so convenient that it took you to every corner of the city. For the Beijing one, we had to walk for a long long time to reach for the station. I believe there is room for improvement.

We went to the Tienanman Square, and Wangfujing street. What a great time outdoor on the hottest day of the year!! I want to get a nice tan anyways, so it was okay. Many many pictures were taken, I am happy and satisfied. Walking around the city was relaxing, just like in Europe, except I wish we have more time to do so.

There is only 17 days left before olympics starts. So exciting man!!

Had dinner at Wangfujing street, for some Halal food. Like hotpot, had lots of lamb, soooooo good! :)

Beijing Day 1

Early wake up but late arrival today at the olympics village, as all the taxi drivers are not able to into the restricted zones. We first of all decided to take a morning walk to the destination, but after an hour, we still couldn't visualize the olympics village. Something must be wrong. Therefore, we took the taxi there. We could enter the restricted zone but we fail the show our passes. That took another half an hour.

Walking around the department, it's more or less expected. The only unexpected thing was that we are going to work as an artisan. There will be a prescription from the doctors, or Dr Fu, then we use the electrical modalities for the treatment. There are cryotherapy, microwave therapy, short-wave diathermy, laser therapy, shockwave, US, IFT, TENS and integrated electrical stimulation. Hydrotherapy is like a whirlpool. The big sink consists of little holes for the air to blow out, which creates the current for massaging effect.

Uniforms are distributed to us already. The pair of shoes is surprisingly fit to my feet. Shirt is a little bit too large, and pants are a little small. But it's all good as long as it doesn't make me look like a weirdo.

I start to worry that I am going to gain some pounds right here. By looking at my body during shower today, I guess I am starting to pay for the heavy meals I had last week: steak, salmon, steak, salmon......

Can I work out a little? Eat less, you can do it!

Beijing Day 0

This is the first time to be in Beijing in 16 years. I tried to be as hopeful as I could to start in this trip.

The air was not as bad as I thought. The bedroom was clean and neat. The most impressive thing was that the taxi driver warmly welcome us to be in Beijing.

"So you guys are coming as a group?"

"Yes, we are volunteering at the olympics."

"This is really very great. Thank you for coming. You guys come despite of the long journey." he said it warmly.

"This is a very meaningful summer for you guys."

His attitude impresses me the most which probably makes me to believe that the creepy chinese culture is actually improving. People will become more educated with training, even though it may take a long time, even though people are still jamming in front of you when you're lining up for something.

We found out that we need to work from 8am till 11pm on alternate days. It's a good 15 hours of work. Let's be hopeful. Wish I can make good use of this precious experience here.

The journey starts tomorrow at 8:30am. Sleep early is the key.

Meeting friends before departure

Had a good time talking with my good old friends, Will and Anne, on two consecutive days.

It was relaxing to talk to Will about thoughts and stuff as there is no pressure at all. He always gives me the warmest blessing, and I return the favour. He has a problem in doing nothing, which is my favourite thing to do. Would love to spend more time to share our experience in doing nothing, hallucinating may be, while staring at my fish tank, if I have one.

It was nice to meet Anne for dinner that night. We talked and talked and ate. Such a good time that we talked about our view towards the future, expectations.

Both of us think that family is the priority in life. However, I am not confident of achieving it. To form a family, you first of all have to find a mate to do so.

Anne told me to continue to be hopeful.

Let there be hope then.

Love to spend quality time with good friends.

Anxious ... again

Things around are making me nervous. Everyone wishes me good luck, have a great experience in BJ. Yes, I am leaving for BJ this Sunday, for freaking 38 days. For some reasons, I have been feeling anxious for this trip. 20 days of the Europian trip was secure, probably because those are secure places to be. But this is BJ, where the olympics is held, where a lot of important people are gonna be there, where some ppl on earth would like to ruin. The whole thing makes me wonder if I can make it back safely.

Having lunch with a friend today, felt a little relieved as he is a more knowledgable person to tell me to enjoy the trip. No one can escape from death unless you're Hancock. So I guess I'll just let life to lead the way.

the Angry hulk

My current mood is just like Hulk in the picture, wanna punch everything I see, wanna break everything in front of me, wanna eat everything that comes across my sight.

Dream again

I had another dating dream last night. That guy was my highschool crushee. As far as I know, he was already married the last time I met him, which was like 2 years ago. But the time we had together, in the dream, was very very sweet. Thank you Taha.

Conclusion: Two nights of dating dream, who do I miss? So depressing.....

Bitter

Most of my friends from Toronto came back for summer. Last night, most of us sat down for a dinner. Gabe, Clement, Anne, a couple and I. We started talking about things and people back home.

It was nice to see all of them. However, it was bitter for me. As dinner started, I tried my best to focus on the food instead hearing who is marrying who, and who are going out with who. They seemed to have so much fun in joking around with relationships. It was bitter. In addition to that, the girl from the couple looked so sweet with her bf, a little too sweet for me. Not my type.... "_"

At night, I went to bed with my exhausted body. Waking up in the morning, I can't believe that my dream was still me going out with Eric. After 3 years, how come I still dream of that?

Do I miss you?
